“Good Hair is both amusing and insightful, guided by Rock's amiable, easy-going presence and commentary.” — Aaron Yap, Real Groove magazine
Spurred by his little girl’s question, ”Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?” comic Chris Rock sets out to find why – and how very much – his African-American sisters crave different hair from what the Good Lord gave them.
He makes his way, perplexed and amiable, through neighbourhood salons and barbershops, LA wig stores and their suppliers in India; and fetches up at an arena event that makes hairdressing a performance sport.
“Spirited, probing and frequently hilarious, it coasts on the fearless charm of its front man and the eye-opening candor of its interviewees, most of them women... and all of them ready to dish.” — Jeanette Catsoulis, NY Times.
“Burning relaxers, expensive extensions, African-American identity: Chris Rock covers it all, and keeps us laughing... It’s both social commentary and pure delight.” — Stephanie Zacharek, salon.com
“Satisfying entertainment even for the lucky few who have no hair cares at all.” —Betsy Sharkey, LA Times
